1. About Us

Penicuik Cleaners is operated by an independent sole trader providing domestic and commercial cleaning services in Penicuik and surrounding areas. All cleaning work is carried out by self-employed subcontractors.

2. Services Provided

We offer:

  • General domestic cleaning

     

  • Deep cleaning

     

  • End-of-tenancy cleaning

     

  • Optional add-on services (when requested)

     

All work is carried out at the customer’s property.

Quotes are based on the information you provide and may be adjusted if the actual work required differs upon arrival.

3. Pricing & Payment

  • Prices are confirmed in writing before any booking is agreed.

     

  • Payment is due on the day of the clean unless otherwise agreed.

     

  • We accept bank transfer or cash.

     

  • Late or missed payments may result in future services being declined.

     

4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.

     

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged at the full rate.

     

  • If a cleaner arrives and cannot gain access, the full fee will be charged.

     

  • If the cleaner arrives at the agreed time but is delayed starting due to the customer (for example: visitors, tradesmen, or access issues), the cleaner will not stay later. The booking time begins at the agreed arrival time.

     

5. Access to Your Property

Customers must ensure:

  • The property is accessible at the agreed time

     

  • Alarm systems are disarmed or access instructions provided

     

  • Pets are secured if necessary

     

If access is not possible, the full fee will be charged in accordance with Section 4.

6. Customer Responsibilities

To help us clean safely and efficiently, customers agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the property

     

  • Ensure the space is reasonably tidy before cleaning

     

  • Inform us of any hazards, damage, or delicate areas

     

  • Provide electricity and running water

     

Penicuik Cleaners is not liable for damage caused by pre-existing issues, including loose fixtures, faulty surfaces, or unstable furniture.

7. Liability & Breakages

  • Any accidental damage caused by our cleaners will be reported immediately.

     

  • Penicuik Cleaners is not liable for wear-and-tear or fragile items left in unsafe positions.

     

  • Customers must notify us of any concerns within 24 hours of the clean to allow us to investigate.

     

8. Health & Safety

Cleaners have the right to refuse work if conditions are unsafe, including:

  • Vermin or infestation

     

  • Excessive hazards

     

  • Aggressive pets

     

  • Dangerous substances

     

We do not move heavy furniture, large appliances, or handle bodily fluids.

9. Self-Employed Cleaners

All cleaners who carry out work for Penicuik Cleaners are independent, self-employed subcontractors. This means:

  • They choose their own jobs and hours

     

  • They may work for other clients or companies

     

  • They are responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, and business obligations

     

Penicuik Cleaners does not operate an employer–employee relationship.

10. Privacy

We only collect information necessary to respond to customer enquiries and provide cleaning services.
We do not sell or share customer data.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please email clean@penicuikcleaners.co.uk within 24 hours.
We will always aim to resolve issues quickly and fairly.

12. Payments

Regular Domestic Cleans

Payment is due after each clean, or weekly if multiple cleans are carried out within the same week.

Regular Commercial Cleans

Businesses are typically invoiced monthly to support their bookkeeping.

Failure to keep up with payments may result in services being paused until the account is brought up to date.

One-Off Cleans

For deep cleans, end-of-tenancy cleans, shop cleans, or any one-off work:

  • A deposit (generally one-third of the total price) is required to secure the date.

  • The remaining balance is due upon completion.

  • Invoices can be provided on request.

 

One-Off / Deep Clean Time Allowance

One-off and deep cleans are quoted based on an estimated number of hours required, using the information provided by the customer. The quoted price covers a set amount of cleaning time carried out by our cleaners.

Our cleaners will always aim to complete as much as possible to a high standard within the allotted time. However, if the property requires more time than estimated due to its size, condition, or additional tasks requested on the day, we may not be able to complete all areas within the original quotation.

If additional time is required to finish the clean, we will inform you and offer the option to extend the cleaning time at an additional cost or arrange a return visit at our hourly rate.

The quoted fee remains payable for the work completed within the agreed time.

13. Amendments to These Terms

Penicuik Cleaners may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
