Self-Employed Cleaner Notice
Penicuik Cleaners is operated by an independent sole trader trading as Penicuik Cleaners.
All cleaners who carry out work for Penicuik Cleaners do so strictly on a self-employed / subcontractor basis.
Status of Cleaners
As self-employed contractors:
Cleaners choose the jobs and hours they wish to accept.
Cleaners may work for other companies or clients at the same time.
Cleaners are paid per job or per hour, depending on the work carried out.
Cleaners are responsible for managing their own tax, National Insurance, and any other legal or financial obligations relating to their income.
Penicuik Cleaners does not operate an employer–employee relationship with cleaners and does not provide PAYE, holiday pay, sick pay, or employment contracts.
Travel & Expenses
Cleaners are responsible for their own travel arrangements and business expenses, including fuel, mileage, and transport.
Penicuik Cleaners may occasionally offer a discretionary contribution (such as petrol money) for specific jobs where travel is unusually long or costly.
This does not form part of the cleaner’s standard pay and does not create an employment relationship.
Uniforms / Clothing
Penicuik Cleaners may provide branded clothing (e.g., T-shirts or polos) purely for optional presentation purposes.
Cleaners are not required to wear branded items, and the provision of clothing does not imply employee status.
Cleaners remain fully independent and responsible for their own equipment unless otherwise agreed.
Acknowledgement
By accepting work offered through Penicuik Cleaners, each cleaner confirms that:
They are working on a self-employed basis.
They understand they must manage their own tax and financial responsibilities.
They are not an employee of Penicuik Cleaners.
